OPERATION SMILE INC

Operation Smile has provided hundreds of thousands of safe surgeries for those born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities. Four decades of expertise have helped Operation Smile create solutions that not only deliver free surgery to people where it’s needed most, but also builds up local system that can provide the same quality of service, whether we are there or not.

Over the years, Operation Smile has mobilized thousands of medical volunteers from a wide range of medical specialties from more than 80 countries to deliver the care as well as transfer their expertise to their peers in 35 countries. By partnering with public hospitals, universities and ministries of health, we are advancing health care delivery by training local medical professionals who will continue to provide surgical care for patients in their own communities. We support by setting up the workspace with crucial medical equipment and supplies and train the local biomedical engineers to maintain them. We partner with central public hospitals, who can continue to support and mentor the medical outposts. Finally we partner with ministries of health to ensure the system in streamlined into their national health plans.
